  1. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/overclock-phenom-ii,2119.html This site compare both, should interest you if you want to choose between a quad from intel or AMD. Yet in the end it's still a choice of how much you wanna spend. If you want to save a few bucks, go for AMD. It is the lest expensive of both and will deliver all what you need for a while. i7, on the other side is probably the best between both and will cost a bit much. It also run on DDR3 instead of 2. For the graphics cards I really like the GeForce GTX 275. It's still expensive but sure is a good graphic card. There's also the Radeon HD 4870 X2 who is also another great graphics card. Should be easy to find benchmark on the internet to compare both. There's still a factor of money between both here.
  2. If it is only for DCS I would go for the dual as well. I would plan the quad if I play games that ask for a much more powerful performance only. For now the dual is good enough for almost any games and application. It's what I have and the only game I had trouble with is Supreme Commander : Forged Alliance. It's up to what you gonna do with the system and how much you want to afford.
  3. I don't think the resizing would have an impact on it, since windows still see the HDD being the same. It just a process that split it, and give him a different path. I don't see how it could have an impact. I don't know if it's the same way on XP than on Vista, but I probably sure it would have no impact on a vista.
  4. Ok I found this : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568704&postcount=3 I think it should be somewhere more easy to see for people downloading the game. Finally I didn't take the game on d2d but on here. Does re-installing my OS with the same license key would count like an activation where I didn't deactivate? This have probably happened once or twice since I have the game and now that I am aware of this, I want to be sure in case for the future. Thanks! Karl
  5. Does DCS have an activation limits on D2D...?
  6. I just know what you mean... I just built one, it works....... but not as much as I would have wanted. I had no problems when using one led, but when I tried with the others.... It was another story, It was really hard to have a good center with 6 Degrees of Freedom. Seem also like sometime I was losing my center point. :( I'll probably just use it with one led instead of the 3. I will have at least the most useful degrees. I'll use that until I got the cash to buy a real track IR I guess.
  7. I can now put it 30 fps, it was something in the software that was keeping me at 15 fps. It was working at 15 also but just less fluid. 30 seem good enough. Didn't even have to remove the filter in my webcam. There's not much light in my room and my webcam don't pick light well. So The process was quite easy for the camera part. I'll plan to go get the wires and maybe some better leds this thursday. Can't wait! Switching from the HOTAS and mouse to this will be so much better.
  8. I have a little question... My webcam only have 15 fps, would that be enough? Or will I lag a lot's when I will move my head? kk, didn't took long to see if it was working, download the software and tried with a random led on the side of my headset and it work well. I'll just need to buy some stuffs and build that thing. I guess it will not be an hard work, since I almost have everything here. Only miss some cables and that's about it. I also suggest GunnDawg to try it. I suspected to be hard or going to be expensive and it is far to be the case. Thanks for all guys!
  9. Didn't know anything about FreeTrack. I was looking to buy a Track Ir, but right now I don't have the money for this. I'll search around a tutorial to build this thing. If anyone have a long complete tutorial about it, I would really like to see it. Thanks Waldo for the link. For now I play with hatswitch to look around and use the mouse when I need to use things inside the cockpit.
  10. I don't know who that person is, but Diana is doing the best 3d models I have seen.
  11. any news about this project? Compared to other sims I did play, I think they already did a good jobs with the graphics. Even compared to ArmA 2, I think the amount of details vs fps is better. I'm pretty new to the game, but if all the other games that will follow have as much contents for the price. I'll buy them, even if I don't plan playing a lot's with some models they provide. To say the least, I'm an happy customer.
  12. I had the same problem and I'm trying this way right now. Hope it will fix it. http://download550.filefront.com/ununobllhubg/14271815/dcs-bs_patch_1.0.1a_en.zip I just finished installing it with 1.0.1a and then putting the fix 1.0.1a to 1.0.1b. It worked out also for me. Thanks for all guys! Note : I have vista 32 bits and didn't installed it on the Local Disk C, but instead directly on the desktop using run as administrator for installing it. Didn't need to use run as admin. it to play it on my side.
