After the 2nd engine does not start, I disable the assymetric thrust limiter, activate air start, and take off (works on CV or land). I put the engine starter in right most position and usually activate the the SEC mode on the right engine. After a few minutes it starts right up when I pull throttle back, shut off fuel, and reclick throttle to activate start sequence (position after doing that does not matter so I keep it in burner). After reloading I can start the engine and not have to restart the game.
I decided to time it the other day and it was 4 minutes 30 seconds after catapult launch. However, I forgot to activate the SEC mode for backup throttle control, and when I clicked that and did my throttle back, click to cutoff, click throttle to normal again, and back up it instantly started up just like normal.
This probably doesn't help you guys pin it down, but just wanted to give you some extra data from a desperate absolute fan of the F14 you guys have made. And that it doesn't require a restart every time to fix, and the SEC mode thing that seems to help it start.
To rehash the steps a bit clearer:
1.Turn off assymetric thrust limiter and take off full burner (works on both CV and land if you use appropriate rudder inputs, even full combat load and fuel).
2.Fly around for like 3 minutes and build up speed (Sometimes it takes a few minutes before I can start).
3.Hit right engine SEC switch for backup throttle control.
4.Activate airstart switch
5.Activate right engine starter
6.Hit right engine throttle from cutoff to normal (it can gun up to afterburn with your other throttle, doesn’t matter).
This has worked for me 100% of the time every time I have the glitch. Going to see if I can refine and test it more each time it happens.
