Collective and Throttle Curves in Training Videas

I'm learning to fly the Huey atm and am avidly watching training vids, however 1 thing that I have noticed is that the videos seem to be using a lot less collective than I am when transitioning from stationary to a hover.

Are the video authors using curves on the throttle and Collective axis? I seem to be approaching 50%+ power before the Huey becomes light on the skids. (Seems at least doublethe power to that used in the tutorial videos)

I've set all the throttle axis on my quadrant as sliders in the options and have no curves set atm.

Any help is much appreciated.

Current Controls: Saitek Throttle Quadrant, MS FFB2, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

There was a change with 1.2.6. See here:

1. Engine power has not been reduced. However collective control handle “rigging” is altered to better match real collective handle settings required throughout the engine power demand envelope. This is why you are seeing higher collective requirements during takeoff, for example. The engine torque and actual rotor blade collective angles are the same (possibly slightly different as there was some tuning of dynamics as well), but the cockpit handle positioning is what is updated.

Thankyou Flagrum, that would explain the difference in the controls monitor in the tutorial vids.

I take it that I am using normal power to enter hover from standing then, and as such, should not be worried I'm using too much collective compared to the tutorial videos?

I was worried it was my throttle setup, although it seems fine in all my other modules.

Thanks - was just wondering that myself having got the huey and Mi-8 last weekend and flailing about miserably whilst matching the tutorials settings.

Was about to ask the same myself.
