Guest nater Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) Hi, I just bought the retail version of DCS: Black Shark and when I try to install it in Windows 7 x64 I get the following error: "Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy. More information at: http://nsis.sf.net/NSIS_Error" That webpage has the following advice: "If you are receiving this problem from an installer located on a disc or other media besides the Internet, then the problem may be due to a hardware failure or more likely the physical media being damaged. Try reading files from other parts of the media. If you are receiving read errors with other files on the disc, then the problem is likely due to damaged media. You will need to contact the source of the physical media for a replacement." I went into the video folder and had no trouble playing the video files off the DVD. I also tried running setup.exe directly from the root of the DVD rather than selecting Install from the Autorun app, but got the same error message. I removed the disc from the drive and made sure it was clean, free from scratches, dust, etc. and it's pristine. All my drivers are up to date and my computer has no other issues. (I have over 60 games installed on this system, and none of them exhibit any problems and I didn't have any trouble installing them.) I am using AHCI mode in the BIOS (rather than plain SATA or legacy IDE mode) with Microsoft's native AHCI drivers for Windows 7 for all my SATA devices including my DVD-RW drive, so in case that was somehow an issue I hooked up an external USB DVD drive and tried to install from that, and that actually worked. So I would guess that the DVD installer could have an issue with AHCI mode in Windows 7, at least in 64-bit. Certainly something to look into. I checked the thread in this forum titled "INSTALLING ERRORS? READ THIS!" but that was related to the download version of DCS, not the retail version I have on DVD, so I would recommend expanding that thread with more information for people with the retail DVD version (and doing more testing with Windows 7 and AHCI). Panzertard Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Gentlemen - here's a possible workaround if your media isnt damaged. You can copy the content from the DVD onto your harddrive. Make a temp C:\DCS-Setup folder - put it there. There run setup from C:\DCS-Setup\Setup.exe The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
