stray cat Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Some questions about orientation and the mission planner. 1. I looked at a youtube tutorial on using the ADF, which as I understand has a custom compass needle that can be tuned to point to a specific location. Now I know that one airport has a frequency of 127MHZ, but the ADF instrument cant even go near that freq. Does that frequency stand for some other radio functionality? (I am more or less 0% experienced with real world radio equipment) 2. What use does the mission planner have? After generating a mission I was trying to see what it is for, but it only allows me to measure some distances. 3. What tools does a huey have if you skipped reading a mission briefing map and are lost? The only thing I found was asking the ATC to guide me and they offer a bearing and distance.
Reksi-Erkki Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 1. That frequency is probably the ATC. You'll find the beacons for ADF (and any radio) navigation from Lino_Germany's excellent map and his beacon list. 2. ? 3. Profit! (couldn't resist...) The kneeboard works nicely, since you can mark your position on the map - but if you're WAY off course, the map might not be large enough. Of course there's the F10 map, but it takes all realism out of the mission... the same could be said about the kneeboard, of course, but at least it's something you would actually have in the cockpit. Dear Shilka. I hate you so very very much. Love, Rex
