Crashmo Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 :helpsmilie:I am trying to solve a HUD view problem. So by trial and error I am trying to change some views in a .lua file. The .lua file was extracted from a .miz file. I have tried opening and rezipping the files with WinZip and WinRAR. The changes are made with notepad++. The changes are very minor, a view parameter is changed from 5.0 to 20.0. Then the file is recompressed and renamed .miz. When inserted into the missions files in game and run, DCS locks up with a zipped file in the loading screen. When done with a .rar file and the mission is started, it returns me to the home screen. I have tried uncompressing and compressing files in this manner and making no changes. The results are the same. So I know it is not the .lua changes that are affecting the process, but rather how they are uncompressed, recompressed, or renames .miz. Any ideas and help is appreciated, thanks. Crashmo
Hansolo Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I am pretty sure you shouldn't save as. Below is what I have been doing and it seem to work: 1. Double click on the .miz. 2. When prompt "Windows can't open" click on "Select a program from a list of installed programs" and press "ok". 3. Select WinRAR. NOTE! I untick "Always use the selected program to open this kind of files" 4. Find e.g. the Mission file and double click on it. 5. When prompt with "choose file to open with" select Nopepad++. 6. Make the changes that you need top do and press save in Notepad++ 7. Close Notepad++ 8. You will be prompted by WinRAR with "File 'Mission' was modified. Do you whish to update it in the archive". Press yes This way the .miz remains the same and DCS will be able to load it Cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
