AlaskanGrizzly Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 After a long break from flying the P-51, I decided to fire it up again. This was the first time I had flown the 51 since the AI FW-190 was added. The first round showed I was a bit rusty. I made a big blunder right at the start by losing sight of the bandit in the terrain and turning right into his sight picture with him at my six. With a few not-so-pretty snap rolls, I was able to neutralize his advantage. From then on it was a slow dance for each other's tail. He kept trying to get me to follow him vertical, but I only followed enough to keep him from extending on me too much. I eventually reeled him, but I hadn't configured my gyro sights correctly, so my accuracy was rather poor. Now that I was warmed up, the second round went much smoother. I had forgotten how much fun the 51 is to fly and am hooked on it again.
