Aircraft exterior lights - trouble with visibility range

Observed that navigation lights in general are very hard to see in all light conditions. Actually they fade out very quickly with distance from observer (?).

Reproduction:

Take P-51 as an example, turn navigation lights on, press F2 for external cam, then F3 so airplane flies by and away, and notice how quickly lights dissapear.

This requires testing and checking of all lights in game for all airplanes (nav lights, position lights, strobes, taxi, landing lights.

I have noticed that it does not help at all turning nav lights or strobe for another player to find me although he is looking in right direction. In RL I can see these for long distances because that's why they are there in first place. Can we have realistic aircraft exterior lights visibility in-game?
