G00dnight Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Just keep one thing in mind..Part of NOTHING is NOTHING if they pull the plug because it is not financially viable our kickstarter contract was with RRG they no longer exist so we get NOTHING. But if we help ED to take over the reins by giving up somethings then I would rather have a part of SOMETHING. even if they may be able to honour the KS I think a little help goes a long way. SlipBall Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I am going to guess that 'DEC' is Eagle Dynamics (otherwise nothing makes sense). Eagle Dynamics did not promise anything during the kickstarter. Ilya/RRG wrote the words you are referring to. So are you saying that DCS would have allowed that if not already agreed to by them, I don't think that would have happened . This whole project was thought out well by DCS, and I would not be worried that it won't be fulfilled . It seems to me it will just be delayed a bit.
Whiplash Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Well everyone else is speculating so I figure I would share my opinion. It all started back when the vision of DCS WWII was conceived by Ilya. He probably had a single meeting with Wags that outlined his vision. For whatever reason (maybe the time difference between Cali and Russia meant one of them was half asleep) a vision was born but the execution was not fully understood by both parties. Ilya gets the green light for KS, he hashes out a budget and launches the fundraiser for DCS WWII. Perhaps Ilya was basing his budget on some misunderstanding that ED would be providing a lot more resources (this might account his vague funding from other investors comment on KS), maybe he didn't have the proper experience with DCS development that even qualified him to make such an estimate, or his plan to execute his portion of the deal was simply mismanaged, or perhaps one hot summer day male bovine fecal matter started hitting the fan in the building's AC system which disrupted everyone concentration so much that nothing was getting done... Whatever the cause Ilya is now forced to meet with Wags for the second time, probably with a well thought out plan that involved ED dumping a ton more money and manpower into developing DCS WWII. Wags being the intelligent business man that he is probably saw this coming and already had decided to cut ties with Ilya beforehand because Ilya is a liability and not an asset to them. Now here ED is, left with a project they didn't start, which has been managed in a way that is not congruent with their style, and you can be sure there is still plenty of fecal matter left over at the RRG office that has to be dealt with before any more progress on DCS WWII can be made. Anyways, that's my story and I'll probably not going to stick to it. As a backer I kind of feel like I am riding passenger seat in a friend’s car on a long road trip. We both agreed to go to the same place in the beginning. It's just not up to me how we get there. And since it's my friend’s car you better believe he has every right to hotbox the vehicle after we just stopped at a Mexican restaurant for dinner. In that case the only thing you can do is close your eyes and pretend it’s your own or tuck and roll. ED Team NineLine Posted June 11, 2014 Author ED Team Posted June 11, 2014 I think Ilya lives in Cali, least when this all started he did... I cant read the rest, sorry :) Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Whiplash Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) I think Ilya lives in Cali, least when this all started he did... I cant read the rest, sorry :) Its not worth reading... Actually I was mostly envisioning the meeting happening over the phone and due to the time zone difference between Cali and Russia it probably meant that one of them was either in bed or just getting up. again per speculation here lol Edit: P.S. if you just read the first few sentence I hope you know I was not trying to be taken seriously. I'm just bored at work again. Edited June 11, 2014 by Whiplash [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Adulthood is like looking both ways before you cross the street and then getting hit by an airplane." Whiplash Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 No, no disrespect... but we just need to sit tight and see what ED can do. And I need a nap... :) Yep, believe it or not, that was more or less the conclusion of my little story. Our options are limited as backers and all we can do is hang tight or bail... There is always time to bail it might not change our fate however. P.S. I probably deserve some reduction in respect... Sometime I assume everyone is here just to waste another day at work. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Adulthood is like looking both ways before you cross the street and then getting hit by an airplane." USA_Recon Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Not really interested, I'm just excited to know this game might someday exist. I'd prefer to have this Normandy map done after 190's - so we have p51 and 190's - and a great map to fly on. Then add the new aircraft. All this is far more important than t-shirts and posters :)
ChiefRedCloud Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 My interest as far as extra's would be a printed manual. The rest is fluff. Strategy guide? Get you a copy of Air Flight Tactics from Amazon. [sIGPIC]http://imageshack.com/a/img13/175/kqzs.png[/sIGPIC] R.E.D. (Retired Extremely Dangerous)
number3 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I don't care for any physical extras. Just the game and planes I can fly. But worse case scenario give me equal credit (with my backer amount) towards a DCS product so I can put it to good use! 314-я смешанная авиационная дивизия 314th Mixed Aviation Division: The "Fighting Lemmings"- Forums: http://314thsquadron.enjin.com/ - ED Forum Group: http://forums.eagle.ru/group.php?groupid=119
wuffman Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I just don't want to be forgotten on the Alpha..., plus I need the xtra P51 so I can have a second account to run a dedicated server on
1stCapo Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I think its been mentioned a few times in this thread, a poll would be nice. I did pay the extra dollars and upped my pledge a few times and I was really looking forward to the 4 printed manuals that my tier allowed for. So for mine, I would like the printed manuals. Failing this is there potential to offer backers a certain amount of credit to spend on other/upcoming DCS titles as an option? I do understand the circumstances and if none this can be done then so be it. It is still somewhat disappointing it has turned out the way it has. Glad the product will still be released. So thanks ED. Cheers

Having paid the extra dollars I'd like to get the manuals is possible, but more than anything, I'd like ED to remain viable if it comes to a crunch.

Interesting though but if Nevada is released soon(ish) then I could hold on waiting for Normandy and getting to know the new planes thoroughly.. ;) "I would have written a shorter post, but I did not have the time."
Aufpassen Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I just wanted to support development. I put in enough to get all planes (forget how much that was). Everything else is not important to me. If I want the manuals in hard copy I print them myself. 1

Cedaway Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) As the price for the whole package of airplane was really low (I paid in total $72 (alpha tier 2), which is a steal for all flyable aircraft + custom T-shirt and alpha access), I certainly won't be bothered if ED can't give me the T-shirt. The most important is the focus on the quality of the main product, not its goodies. Now, for the alpha access, it's an other debate... upupandaway Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Since everybody´s private ED-account determines what modules are installed or available for purchase, those accounts which belong to backers could be "flagged" and allow access to download and install early access modules via the module manager. To facilitate their integration access could be limited to single player only, although this might end up making things even more complicated when SP & MP don´t host the same content (bug fixing). Anyway, standing by for first official comment from ED on this. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
wasserfall Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 The t shirt isn't that important, but my pledge included all flyables, beta acces and most important to me the EDGE SDK. Hopefully they sort things out for the best. Intel Core i5-9600K, Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 WINDFORCE 8G
Azref Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Honestly printed manuals would be nice, but as others have said, I'd rather the cost of producing manuals and T-shirts go towards dev costs as I can live with PDF's. I'd happily replace physical goodies for 190 digital keys etc. Backed at $150 level
Scarecrow Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 My rewards were the Strategy guide and 2 manuals. I don't mind ED dropping the physical rewards at all. It'd be cool if they did something for the 1000$ backers though.
-Rudel- Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 My Pledge: $265 pledged: Everything at the $80 level: Two copies of the entire initial release to share with a friend. Plus a hard copy of the game’s air combat strategy and tactics manual Spiral-bound copies of complete aircraft manuals for two flyable aircraft in the game Plus a digital copy of DCS World FW-190D-9 with beta access (when available in early 2014) A digital copy of DCS World P-51D Mustang (on successful kickstarter completion) Plus a mention in the Producers section of the game credits Plus ALPHA ACCESS. $80 Level: MATRIX Tier 2. Everything at the $10 level Plus a digital copy of all flyable aircraft in the initial release Plus any TWO extras. $10 Level: Everything at the previous level, Plus early access to the game’s closed beta. $1 or More Level: Our heartfelt thanks, access to the backer section with weekly development updates, videos, and more. A special BACKER medal on our official forums. With that mentioned, I want my: 3 copies of the entire line-up Beta Fw-190D-9 Plus extra copies of any 2 aircraft. Alpha Access Closed Beta Access Mentioned in Credits And if I can't get hard copies of manuals or guides, at least the SDK for EDGE that is supposedly promised. https://magnitude-3.com/ https://www.facebook.com/magnitude3llc https://www.youtube.com/@magnitude_3 i9 13900K, 128GB RAM, RTX 4090, Win10Pro, 2 x 2TB SSD, 1 x 15TB SSD U.2 i9 10980XE, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090Ti, Win10 Pro, 2 x 256GB SSD, 4 x 512GB SSD RAID 0, 6 x 4TB HDD RAID 6, 9361-8i RAID Controller i7 4960X, 64GB RAM, GTX Titan X Black, Win10 Pro, 512GB PCIe SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD
