brucci Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Hi guys, For some time now I am trying to get to know how the CDU works. After a few nights I think it is becoming my friend :D, although I have a question concerning divert page an TO TO steering mode. Lets assume that I have 'A' and 'B' waypoints in my flight plan and that steering mode for waypoint 'B' is set to TO TO. I am going to waypoint 'B' which in turn is my steerpoint. As the steering mode is set to TO TO the CDI on the HSI is aligned with the Course Arrow (assuming I am flying perfectly on course). Now I am going to divert page on the CDU and select one of the available airports which in turn becomes my current steerpoint. Then I switch the AAP STEER PT dial to MARK or MISSION and then back to FLT PLAN so that my 'B' waypoing is again my steerpoint. So far so good...but, after doing this, now my CDI needle is not even close to Course arrow altoguh I am still perfectly on course. What turns out is that after diver page usage instead of heaving waypoint 'B' set as my FROM in TO TO steering mode it is changed to waypoint of the selected airfield in the divert page, so I have to change it myself to waypoint 'B' to have my CDI alligned. Huh, a lot of explaining...in the end the question is: Is this a proper behaviour? Shouldn't the FROM waypoint stay the same all the time?
brucci Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 The fact that previous Steerpoint becomes the FROM point was a missing part for me. The switch back to previous waypoint certainly works. Thanks very much for the answer.
