Zabuzard Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) I've found several ways to jettison the carried weapons while being on the ground using some of the emergency handles. Everytime I pulled such a handle the weapons where jettisoned and for some reason they where armed and everything exploded. I've read in a "real world" manual that these handles override every "Arming"-Setting of bombs, rockets, missiles and jettison the weapons UNARMED (except of fragmentation bombs where another procedure must be used). So if I pull an emergency handle to jettison weapons they should be jettisoned UNARMED and I should not explode :D Please take a look and check this issue, thanks :) Edited September 9, 2014 by Zabuza
Zabuzard Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 Excerpt from the real world manual: Bomb-Rocket-Tank Salvo Button. When the bomb-rocket-tank salvo button, inset in the left forward console, is depressed, all external loads (including all types of bombs, rockets and tanks) are jettisoned simultaneously from left and right racks. Regardless of the position of bomb or rocket arming switches, bombs and rockets are dropped unarmed when the salvo button is depressed. The salvo button is operable whenever battery power is available, because the salvo circuit receives power from the battery bus. Note. Rockets cannot be salvoed when the airplane is on the ground, because the salvo circuit is broken when the weight of the airplane is on the landing gear. Emergency Jettison Handle. Bombs, rockets, chemical tanks, or drop tanks are released simultaneously when the guarded emergency jettison handle, recessed in the inboard face of the left forward console, is pulled out approximately 6 inches. If eletrical release fails, the handle is used to jettison any external load mechanically, independently of the electrical release systems. When the emergency jettison handle is pulled, the bomb arming circuit is interrupted automatically and bombs are dropped unarmed, regardless of the bomb arming switch position. On F-86E-6 and later Airplanes, the rockets cannot be jettisoned by use of the emergency jettison handle.
