x 52 not detecting

I have a Saitek x 52 that has seen every single DCS product, bought back in 09 or 08. With some other programs ie EA products, I have to unplug the x 52 and the pedals. Now when I plug the x 52 in I get an error of USB device not recognized. I have tried different ports and nothing works. The LEDs come on but the computer wont "see" the x 52. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try with a different computer.

Try it on a linux machine (you may get more informative error messages in the logs there, i.e. being able to differentiate between "its not communicating at all" and "its communicating, but with a lot of errors").

 

Check the USB cable for damage and try to replace it (I think it's the most likely point of failure and also the one thing you can replace without actually knowing the internal workings of the device).
