Galaxy_Gryphon Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi, im trying to do the Mi-8 campaigns and the first mission is just flying waypoints, my question is, after starting up the helicopter, the ADF doesn't seem to respond to them, i an a bit new to navigation systems, but i would like to learn how to fly the helicopter without "cheating" and using the F10 map how do i get the ADF to respond to the mission waypoints?
Strut Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I did some tutorials ages ago, they are probably lost in the ether,,, heres a link, hope they help http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=127166 Regards DL available skins here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?CREATED_BY=Strut Pictures of my Skins here: https://imgur.com/a/bOQyQqW [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64bit, Intel® Core i7-5820K CPU OC @ 4.50GHz x6, X99A GAMING PRO CARBON, MSI RTX 2080 TI GAMING X TRIO 11Gb, 32GB DDR4 RAM, SSD 960 EVO250GB, SSD 850 EVO 500GB, JetSeat, MFG Crosswind Pedals, VPC Mongoose T-50, TMWH, DSD ButtonBox, Pimax 5k XR/BE
Galaxy_Gryphon Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 hi, im not exactly sure what im doing, as this is the first time ive ever done navigation before where do i get the frequency that i am supposed to input? i tried the frequencies in the briefing for the first mission but i never saw the ADF move.
lmp Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 You can't "tune" the ADF to the waypoints set in the editor. The frequencies in the briefings are for radio comms, not navigation. The ADF can only point you at NDBs (non directional beacons), which are mostly placed near airfields. At any rate, there are none in South Ossetia and you won't be using them in the campaign much. You have a doppler navigation system, where you can input a course and it'll tell you how far you've traveled along it and what your deviation from it is. It can be very useful, but you'll have to remember (or note down) all the distances and courses between waypoints yourself and input them when needed. Other than that, you'll have to learn to follow the terrain (rivers, valleys, roads, towns...).
