Random_Pilot Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Hello, I have a question regarding the autopilot. In most of the videos I have seen, the Mi-8 flies really smooth. However, whenever I fly with heading and pitch/roll SAS on, the helicopter will fly straight but it is really wobbly. Whenever I press Right control + Enter to view the controls, the stick is doing a circular motion around the origin and the autopilot is constantly going up and left and right. How can I make my helicopter fly smoother? Thanks 104th_Junior

Random_Pilot Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 Sorry, I thought I had put one up... I placed an Mi8 at Nalchik and this is what happened. Please excuse my horrible helicopter skills :)server-20141216-220324.trk 104th_Junior
Devrim Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) Hi again. I run your track. Here my results. :)At first, your Mi-8 took off and went into the building placed your nine and crashed every time! I didn't understand. Took control of your heli in game and everything was perfect. Then, I thought your and mine options were not same, and enabled Control Helper in Options/Misc tab. I've played track again and seen your problem. Again at first, there were too much wobbling cyclic input (seen in controls indicator). I thought that was the problem caused by yourself. Then I took the control and realized that those wobbling inputs were not caused by pilot, it was autopilot (but I must say that, although autopilot's compensating inputs, you could do solid and relaxed joystick attitudes to stable the helicopter). After disabled autopilot, Mi-8 relaxed and started to more straight flight. Now I do understand why I argue with some Mi-8 pilots about using autopilot. I suggest you not to use Control Helper option. To me that option makes flight harder, instead easier. Or I suggest you not to use autopilot (with Control Helper option), unless you're using navigation feature of Mi-8. Probably without Control Helper feature it will be a new experience for you though, but I advice you to try it. :) Edited December 16, 2014 by Devrim Intel i7-14700@5.6GHz | MSI RTX4080 SuperSuprimX | Corsair V. 64GB@6400MHz. | Samsung 1TB 990 PRO SSD (Win10Homex64) Samsung G5 32" + Samsung 18" + 2x8"TFT Displays | TM Warthog Stick w/AVA Base | VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle | TM MFD Cougars | Logitech G13, G230, G510, PZ55 & Farming Sim Panel | TIR5 & M.Quest3 VR >>MY MODS<< | Discord: Devrim#1068
Random_Pilot Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 The Control Helper feature was completely unknown to me! I disabled the option and immediately the helicopter flew much better! I could finally fly in a straight line without a wobbly cyclic! Thank you so much, this help is really appreciated :) 104th_Junior
Devrim Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 May be it's a default option... Ok, thanks. Have a good flight. :) Intel i7-14700@5.6GHz | MSI RTX4080 SuperSuprimX | Corsair V. 64GB@6400MHz. | Samsung 1TB 990 PRO SSD (Win10Homex64) Samsung G5 32" + Samsung 18" + 2x8"TFT Displays | TM Warthog Stick w/AVA Base | VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle | TM MFD Cougars | Logitech G13, G230, G510, PZ55 & Farming Sim Panel | TIR5 & M.Quest3 VR >>MY MODS<< | Discord: Devrim#1068
