New to this sim and MP

Hi.

 

I just started to play MP. Maybe this is a stupid question....

 

In the server the mission was i think to bomb an airbase, I took off at an airfield maybe 30-45min real time to fly and I dident meet anyone. did break my plane during a roll because i was bored but..... What all this MP all about. Flying for hour for nothing it feels like. I thought this MP should be like maybe two team two airbase and the first who bomb the other base should win or something like that. or shoot down the other teams plane. Maybe there is such mission but i can find them.

 

So I would really appreciate if someone could explain a little or two about this simulator in MP.

Which server? how many players were there? Have you tried to communicate with people (chat or TS)?

 

Any mission MP or SP is about two coalitions with each having own goals and assets. As a general rule, you'd need to join a populated server, read the briefing carefully and connect with people via TS.

I don´t remember the server, yes i chat with one who also was new to this.

 

I read about what you say in the briefing before press fly. but it was way to long time to fly to reach the target at least in a SU25t.

 

I have read and look in the forum and found Missions and Campaigns

thread. Some have the type of MP style I was looking for. But how do I found that server to join in MP? Seems like everyone join Aerobatic servers. I also found some Missions that you guys created that may suit me in SP when I´m done flying the original mission.

 

Where do I put the mission file?

Root drive/Users/'your_username'/Saved Games/DCS/Missions

 

If you're looking for combat servers, I'd recommend 51st or 104th servers, usually plenty of actions going on in there, once again, TS is the way to go in MP.

As a general tip, the 104th and 51st servers are two of the most popular.

 

Before you join a server, look at the number of players in the mission and try looking for teamspeak instructions in the server description/briefing.

 

When it comes to using other's missions, you can technically put them anywhere. DCS has a mission folder though

 

C:\Users\<NAME>\Saved Games\DCS\Missions

Haha, meet someone, their rockets.......

 

I´m still very new to this sim and it´s a lot to learn.

 

One thing I thought about, how to do when ground crew tells it´s unable to complete, when trying to rearm before start. Sometimes they loadout but sometimes they dont, am I missing something.

hi,

is there any advantage to using the online desktop shortcut instead of going online through the game? wasn't sure if the shortcut route would be less taxing on the pc or both the same. thanks in advance

Just takes a few seconds less to load as you go straight to the serverlist instead of via the main menu
