Can you please explain these to a n00b?

There are a couple of mods out there that add these to your pit (the red ones look cool, but are a bit obtrusive) that said, what is the real use of them?

I guess the name implies something about "lift" but I dont get it?

can someone please point me to an explanation of these, and how to use them?

-thanks :thumbup:

Dont really know why they call them "lift lines". But, they are there to enhance situational awareness when your head is on a swivel looking for bogeys while maneuvering...

In addition to padlocking and SA as the link suggests, a lift line will help you determine your position in a dogfight to bring your plane into lag pursuit, head on, or pure pursuit.

The lift lines are very useful when you perform an out-of-plane maneuver. If your lift vector is:

1) pointing at the bandit, you are performing pure pursuit;

2) pointing in front of the bogey, you are performing lead pursuit (cutting inside the bandit's circle);

3) pointing behind the bandit, you are performing lag pursuit (maintaining energy and rear quarter position).

Hope this is useful. :)

One other thing, I found that once you have TrackIR, you don't reading need lift lines to help situation awareness.
