Fooling around in the ME, I found that I could get the AI (B-1 in this case) to shoot hypersonic JDAM bombs by telling them to hit a target using all bombs. The AI seems to be limited to one JDAM at a time. The first bomb acts normally. The AI continues to fly normally and drops a second bomb, but this ends up dropping directly over the target. It goes straight down at an extremely low speed. The following bombs flip over in mid air and start accelerating backwards to the target. By the end of the track they are flying 60 miles at 5000 knots.

I reported a similar bug a while ago that might be related.

Its known, and its a combination of two issues.

1. AI don't understand JDAMs and WCMDs. As you noted they can only drop one at a time with a decent pause between drops.

2. JDAMs use a really basic flight model which is more concerned about hitting a point on the ground than flying realistically. Thus when combined with the above issue the AI drop bombs beyond the position of the target and the bomb is capable of disobeying the laws of physics.

In the context of the AI these issues are linked.

Unrelated note, it appears that the super cool bomb-bays on the B-1B no longer work :(

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
