1.2.16 Open Beta & Stable Branch Discussion

It makes sense. If release 2.0 is imminent then it makes no sense wasting cycles on fixing bugs in a soon-to-be deprecated version of DCS World.

Well DCS mission files are basically archives comprised of various files. So apparently all this time it was possible to insert and trigger an exe file, which is like a major security problem.

Not sure if I going to say this right, but here it goes. We appreciate all the fixes and release that have been released and will be released. I think the anticipation of 2.0 is getting the better of us so we see UPDATE and we are 'Ya I have to get home and get the download....oh it is an update to the current' pause ....' hey look they fixed this, this and added a new module cool'. Keep up the great work and please don't take our anticipation for 2.0 the wrong way. We love the work and for me I always look forward to what you are doing next.

Cargo Question

 

Hello,

I am trying to figure out what this means from the patch notes:

 

-Numerous scripting functions for Cargo Static Objects fixed (partially)

 

I tried to trigger off of a cargo unit placed (without damage) from a huey and it still did not function with the trigger system. Anyone have any ideas what's up?

Last week or so I declined to install the "updater", because I was in the middle of trouble shooting something, so last night, I downloaded the latest "updater" and all I wanted to do was just that,, update the "updater", when I clicked on the updater.exe, it went right into downloading and installing the latest open beta? I dont want the open beta. I just wanted to update the updater in preparation for patch releases.

 

I reformatted and reloaded from a backup image from the day before, so I am good to go without the latest updater, so my question is,, am I ok not having the latest updater if say a patch is released in the next few days and I want it downloaded and installed? Or is there a way to install the latest updater without getting the beta versions? Perhaps disconnecting my internet connection, then clicking on the updater .exe file to install the updater only? i dont know?

More than likely Skulleader, unless they encounter some major issues.

 

The good news is that the Beta version runs fine on a server running 1.12.15, so it should be a very simple transition too.

Shader mod has never been added so if you want it you still have to install yourself.

well, if not to many bugs in there you might be lucky ;)

 

as reference, check 1.2.15, i actualy had been only 2 says from beta to release install, but it depends, as said, on possible bugs ;)

In case you haven't noticed, we get a new update every time there is new stuff to sell in the dcs shop. Bug fixes are not the primary reason for those updates.

I'm sure we will see a few more updates to 1.2 branch before 2.0 reaches sufficient maturity level. :)
