_Dredd Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 As some of you may have encountered; Trackir only works so well from a certain distance. Now that Im using a large TV for a monitor the trackir camera is over an arms length on top of the TV. This is fine, but when you turn your head; the Active LED' return is on the edge of being detected by the TrackIR camera and it can intermittently cutout. I can improve it by changing the trackir profile curves ; though I'd like to somehow increase the brightness and hence the signal so the profile is not as fast on the curves. Has anyone any ideas or recommenddations how to do this. If the light can somehow be diffused rather than directional as the current track lip Pro is that may solve the problem. Tumbleweed Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I don't know about TrackIR but in FaceTrackNoIR you can set up the Min - Max LED light point size in PX and you can also adjust the brightness in the software to see brighter or dimmer light points. When I fly in the day, the sun still creeps in and washes out my LEDs so I have to adjust both of these settings to null out any unwanted points of light caused by sunlight and reflections. I would think TrackIR would have something similar built it for such scenarios? RE Defusing the LED Lights - I saw ages back when I was building my tracking headset some guy used Ping Pong balls as LED diffusers. He just drilled a hole in them and popped them over the leds. Sporg Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Maybe try with the Delanclip instead of the TrackClip Pro? I recently purchased this clip, because my TrackClip Pro got loose in the rubber that secures it to the headset, and I felt that the TrackIR "saw" this clip much better than the TrackClip Pro. The LEDs are powerful IR LEDs, and are mounted in a way so that they can be seen from the sides. In addition you get a more solid clip that is fastened much better to the headset. http://www.delanengineering.com/ Edit: In addition, you can play with the setting "Light Filter Threshold" in the "Camera" pane and see if that helps. Maybe you have it set too high for the new distance to your clip. Check the LEDs in the "Camera" view window. It should show three clear green dots at all times. Demon_ Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) With 3 27" in portrait mode, the trackIR is one foot higher than my head. Two leds merge into one, when i move my head in a certain position. Now i use the hat track clip. Problem solved. Edited July 21, 2015 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
