dotChuckles Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) I am wondering if anyone can help me out with some research. I am looking for any documents or guides on how the RAF conducts formation flying. Particularly around the communication within a flight. Is there any formal brevity or phraseology, or is it quite ad hoc? For example does lead announce direction or altitude changes or are you expected to just be able to react? Under what circumstance would you see a formation landing or takeoff, if any? Also, in a CAS role, if there is a 2 or 4 aircraft formation, but only one target was tasked by a FAC what would the other aircraft do? Stand off or follow lead? Again I'm looking for how UK forces would do this. If anyone could point me in the direction of some good documents I would be very grateful. I've been looking through all the MAA manuals available online and the CAP413 Radio Telephony Manual and I can't find anything that relates to management within a formation. Thank you all in advance! (Damn! just realised I typoed the thread title... can a friendly mod change this for me?) Edited August 21, 2015 by dotChuckles I'm an idiot. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
