I built a system using a MOBO several years old, a Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR. The story is long, but the decision revolved around an overclock option for a E8600 Core 2 Duo.

There was limited compatibility info for RAM used on this thing. I took a chance. On the off chance that you have a beast like this, and are looking for some good memory, I am using:

G-Skill Part# F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM. It is DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4GB x 2.

DCS runs fine with this 8GB setup at 3.6Ghz on my E8600.

I have the same motherboard. Have tried 3 different brands of DDR3 in it and all have worked for the most part. I do get some very rare unexplained blue screens that started around the time I started overclocking, but I am pretty happy with the performance considering the CPU/MOBO age.

PC:

6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.

I had a funny thing happen. My machine blue screened, and two other times locked. I was a little concerned until I found that I had OC'd the thing faster than I thought. I wanted 3.6, but had it set to 3.9.

I didn't increase voltages, and I believe that's what caused the locks. I was wondering, duh!, why it would get so hot!

So anyway, 3.6 on air, and it's running great. After a few more run /shutdown cycles, I'll think about going up to 3.9. I understand that Arctic Silver needs those cycles to cure?? New to this stuff....
