I'm reading this book on Kindle:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scram-Gripping-First-hand-Helicopter-Falklands/dp/0099568829

It's fantastic. Although the author was flying the Wessex (did you know they carried 4 rocket pods with a total of 28 2.5" rockets? I didn't!), he writes of many other pilot's experiences in the Falklands conflict.

He also tells of his training in the Gazelle and Wessex and gives a good insight into flying these helicopters.

Certain manoeuvres are described very well - such as autorotation. They did a months worth of just flying circuits every day (that's 'patterns' to foreigners ;) ) and as long on daily autorotating.

The actual events that unfolded during the SAS' failed mission in South Georgia where the two Wessex crashed is described in detail, too, at the start of the book.

Well worth a read.

Some of the pilots written about in the book say a few words here:

and just look at the arobatics those Lynx are pulling! When do we get a DCS one? :pilotfly:
