Jacks Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I am after some information regarding the mid dropping system on the Mi-8, could some experts please help. I am searching for this information for a possible mod idea. A quick internet search has thrown up that the mi-8 could be equipped with VMR-1 or VMR-2 mine laying pods. It is says that these pods could carry 64 or 200 AT mines but I am after more detailed info. I would like to know whether both the VMR-1 and 2 could carry 64 or 200 AT mine or could the 1 carry 64 and the 2 carry 200? What mines were used? How were they released, were they released in ripple or a complete salvo? Could the pilot choose how many to release at a time? What was the interval on the ripple? Was it variable? Also what were the limits or parameters for dropping such as altitude or speed? Thanks in advance for any information. Strut Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) A place to start looking using contemporary doctrine is what was / is called FASCAM ( Family of Air Scatterable Mines) Basically FASCAM entails the delivery of mines by helicopter, fixed wing, ground launched systems from arty and rocket / missile systems , trucks.
