This is perfectly normal. In real life a pilot can check the instruments in a glance just by making sure all instrument needles are pointing in the same directions during normal flight. If one of the needles is giving a malfunction reading it is not alligned with the rest of the needles anymore making it easier to determine what is wrong in an instance.
