I will start with mine

1v1 Against an IA in High skill Su 27 Head on 30Miles

I found that getting speed and make him bleed energy is more usefull than getting altitude.

 

I Used a "Roll" maneouver to keep getting speed and evade his missiles and also, every time he tried to shoot I also shot, so he would turn!

TD? if you mean the Target Display (Radar) just turning it on, right corner down, and in the Dial of it, on EM(Emmiting)

 

Later, just moving the cross over the target and locked him 2 TIMES!, to make it PIC or STT, after that ,just gaining speed!

 

For the Radar I am not sure, but for Mig 21, I always used reduced cone scan, to be better (Pressing the lock button) on the M-2000, here, I just put the radar on 30 Degrees instead of 45, it is near the throotle, the Dial.

 

From my own opinion and experience, just using 30 degrees instead of 45, helps on not losing the target!, and always I keep it on my hud, at least, above the mid!

 

I always keep the bandit busy till I get closer, that means shooting very far but bleeding his energy, always when he locks, I am ready to fire back so he will lose the lock or at least he is unable to shoot another one because I use a simple roll that can defeat the first one , Im not sure about others.

 

After getting close, you just need to use the Magics or the Gun.

 

Sometimes the 530 make impact, that usually happens on 10m and I got one on 30 miles , he hadnt ECM on and I was 30.000 feeet and Mach 1 with Mach 1 in closing speed

The target designation box or TD is the square I see in the HUD. I don't get that in the 530. I will try your 30 degree instead of 45....

I see!, I get it when

1- Master arm on

2- Selecting the 530

3- Locking a target two times, first one is TWS and second one is STT, in STT it should guide the 530D

4- Look at the PCA pannel, on the 530 selector a S will appear on the right side of the P when you select it!

 

*take note that sometimes you lose a target when entering in the second lock, STT, I think it is because the target has ECM enabled, so on, I recommend to have it in TWS until is around 30 miles
