Hullo,

I flew a number of practice ILS approaches yesterday and noticed two problems:

1) When passing between 3.5 and 4 miles from the runway (determined using a 'LAND' INS waypoint rather than the co-located DME) the synthetic runway vanishes from the HUD, only to reappear approximately two miles later. I've tested a number of approaches of various profiles, maintaining 4,000 feet the whole way down, flying a normal approach, flying excessively low; altitude seems not to matter, only that the runway will disappear at approximately 3.7 DME.

The aircraft was configured 'normally' for each approach (at least I think so!) with one exception: failure seems to be guaranteed when the ECM box has been switched off mid-flight. Turning it on seems to cause the synthetic runway to re-appear, however the synthetic runway also disappears on occasions where the ECM box is not in the off position. Possibly a red-herring.

2) The dashed line that runs from the top of the HUD I had assumed to be a localiser needle, which would indicate the centre of the localiser relative to my position. This didn't move through the series of approaches I made to Tiblisi RWY 31.

Excuse the double post but I'm conscious that over a week down the line and nobody's been able to reproduce this. Can someone validate?

I never had this problem so far, I suggest you post a track if you're able to reproduce consistently, it will make this easier.

Track don't work all the time but they usually are fine if there is no AI, weapon employment of hard maneuvering involved, so that should be fine for an ILS approach.

Also a screenshot showing the runway disappearing, with a good view on the instrument panel would be a plus.

I tried reproducing this bug last night and, well, I couldn't... It's a pickle, as I had it happening time and time again when I first posted it, and had my squadron leader able to reproduce as well! I'll keep trying!
