Problem starting DCS - please help

Hi all,

so DCS has been working flawlessly for me since I installed it a few months ago.

I have no mods installed or anything like that.

I just asked how to reposition the Radio Menu on another thread, I just posted, since I am using 3 screens, and then found the answer: I edited the RadioCommandMenuPanel/ CommandMenu.lua with notepad and changed the MenuWidth=280 to 2200.

Now DCS does not start anymore. It starts loading and then it quits when it reaches 100%.

Was I not suppose to open the LUA files with notepad?

Help! Can't live without DCS!

Thank you.

E.

Nevermind I repaired OpenBeta and it now works.

Still would like to know why it happened??

Whenever making changes to lua files, do 2 things. First, make and keep a backup, so you can simply revert back to the original if it goes wrong.

Second, and very importantly, DO NOT use notepad to make any changes. There is a free, and far better app called Notepad++, which functions correctly, and is free to download. Only ever use that to edit luas.

Thanks Neil.

Will certainly keep that in mind!
