fyaruny Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Hello people, So, im still kind of a noob at the flanker and i have a question to ask, i dont know if it has been asked already, if it was i couldnt find it. My question is, when i fire a 27ER on a locked target, is there a way to know how long will it take to hit the target or how far is it from the target? Or the only way to know if its a hit is by confirming visualy? Thanks
DarkFire Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Unfortunately the Flanker doesn't give you a time-to-impact display so the only way to be 100% sure is visual confirmation. That being said, with typical launch ranges and relative speeds, if nothing has happened within 20 seconds then it's probably safe to assume that an R-27ER will have missed. Obviously the time will depend on closure rate but 20 seconds is a decent rule of thumb. With current missile ranges you should normally be able to see a successful missile impact & explosion, unless you're in an extreme position e.g. launching at Rmax from 15,000m altitude at Mach 2.6 :) System Spec: Cooler Master Cosmos C700P Black Edition case. | AMD 5950X CPU | MSI RTX-3090 GPU | 32GB HyperX Predator PC4000 RAM | | TM Warthog stick & throttle | TrackIR 5 | Samsung 980 Pro NVMe 4 SSD 1TB (boot) | Samsung 870 QVO SSD 4TB (games) | Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Personal wish list: DCS: Su-27SM & DCS: Avro Vulcan.
