DeepDrummer Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) Yesterday I while looking at motorcycle helmut mounted HUD like BMW's new entry (bad idea opn a bike btw), I thought to myself, if they can do that cost effectively why not something that displays just the HUD for DCS. I would prefer 3 monitors or a large curved one for DCS over the rift or similar products. Think just the HUD in a Lens like is on the Holo lens with a track IR. Keep in mind I know relatively nothing about the real $400,000 units for some fighters. I am simply opening this up for discussion and for developers of the software and hardware to consider and welcome the input of this great group to educate me on the merits of the idea. I am thinking of something like this simply tethered to an HDMI cable or other cables in use as video cables today. http://www.gizmag.com/skylens-hud-elbit/31945/ Could dcs easily be patched to separate or twin just the hud to another monitor (like that system)? Perhaps a trackir with a lens system like that sounds like a dream come true for flight sims? Considering the Holo lens includes a cpu/memory/operating system and batteries, all of which would not be required for this use, I can see it easily being a well below $1000 investment. Resolution would not have to be earth shattering for just the HUD so the cost shouldn't be crazy. Does the idea have merit? From that manufacturer shown above: https://www.elbitsystems.com/elbitmain/area-in2.asp?parent=2&num=24&num2=24 Please discuss. Developers and hardware manufacturers (I know you're watching) take note. Edited May 7, 2016 by DeepDrummer Win 10 pro 64 bit. Intel i7 4790 4 Ghz running at 4.6.
