kgelec Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Hello, I have problems with USB joystick (not under world known name). The joystick has 5 axis, 12 button, POV and vibrations; System: XP-OS ATHLON2500, 512MB, GeForce 5600-128MB etc.. The problem is when I start new game (i.e. fast fly) the aircraft nose is going down (relatively fast). This situation is similar to uncenterd joy but the controller is well centered in system gamepad options. I noticed that when I do not install driver for the joy and let the OS find the proper, this problem not occur - then aircraft nose is slighlty going up (really slow) but it is not such unconvenient like in previous case. It could solve my problem but when drivers for the joy are not installed then vibrations does not work (other buttons and axis does). So firstly I thought that this is the joy drivers error/mismatch. But I found that the problem does not occur in the game (when drivers installed) in following situations: 1. after unsuccessful mission (i.e. fast fly) when I run mission one more time without exiting to the main menu (retry); 2. in some training missions; 3. in ubi.com network game in 10/12 cases; Additional hint is when I have this problem I can't trim the joy by "ctrl+.,/;". also after install 1.01 patch (for original version of the game) described problem doesn't occur. Instead of it in training missions is a lot of problems with controlling the aircraft(strange behaviour), but rest of game modes, i.e. fast fly, load mission and campaign can be played without joystick problems. Does anyone have idea how to get rid of joystick problems? Greetings from Poland, kgelec P.S. There are no alternative joystick drivers.

kgelec Posted September 3, 2006 Author Posted September 3, 2006 Hello, Unfortunately my joystick is not one of the Saitek products. But if understood You well, I followed the instructions of joystick setup and I removed any buttons and axes assignment, and I assgined axes manually (while buutons were not assigned at all). ...didn't help :( Any ideas?
S77th-konkussion Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Hello, Unfortunately my joystick is not one of the Saitek products. But if understood You well, I followed the instructions of joystick setup and I removed any buttons and axes assignment, and I assgined axes manually (while buutons were not assigned at all). ...didn't help :( Any ideas? Well assuming you have correctly eliminated any conflicts- I would say maybe your stick just doesn't operate on Xp? I had to trash a MS stick & a scanner that simply wouldn't work on XP when I upgraded. The disks wouldn't even run. "Conflicts" is defined as LOMAC and your stick's profiling software are trying to control the same button with 2 different functions. kgelec Posted September 3, 2006 Author Posted September 3, 2006 Hmm, Let's say that my joystick is compatible with XP system. Why do I think so? because after installing drivers I run properties and I see that axes are centered, buttons works, and vibrations can be adjusted. In other words everything seems to be ok. I tried also soft tools where I can trimm positions of the axis (in respect of directx drivers) but uncentering the joystick doesn't help. Maybe You've right - stick and LOMAC are "conflicted". So what can I do? I spent money for the game and I can't play. I asked ubi support and will see. Maybe someone else has or had same problems with joystick?
S77th-konkussion Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Conflicts are something you solve easily. First thing is- is there any profiling software for the stick running? If not- you don't have any conflicts. You can't have any because there is nothing else competing with the assignments that LOMAC put on your stick. So- again if you can verify that there is no other software (I don't mean other games) running that maps commands to that device- then map your commands manually using the lomac\input screens. Other than remembering to click OK to save your work- there's not much else that can be done. If you DO have profiling software for this device, than you MUST clear the default button assignments as shown on that X45 page. You'll also likely have to clear & re map the axes in lomac\input. This setup is applicable to any stick-up to the point where you begin custom profiling. Read the whole thing carefully- if you rush through it only halfway paying attention- you'll continue to have problems. Sometimes you have to slow down to speed up. Lock on will not eventually have pity on you and fix itself. Check device manager? see if the computer sees the stick and there are no "?" showing... S77th-konkussion Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Remember- there are 4 separate groups of button assignments. YOu go through each of the 4 red buttons circles in the screenshot. I get this a lot- people only clear one of the 4 sets. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
kgelec Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 I read it carefully and I did every task at the first time - for red butttons and so on...In device manager there is no conflict or "?" . In task manager I removed all not nesessary threads. so I think that profilling software is off. nothing. But yesterday I made another experiment(i've made a lot)....all assignments were cleared - axes and buttons..everything (like in Your tutorial). Next I run the game (fast fly) and what happened?...the problem still occurs! Nose of the aircraft is going down :) even when no joystick axes/buttons are assigned in order to control machine..I am almost sure that this is matter of game bug, because i.e. when I make crash and recover mission then I can play normally, etc.
