Maulkin Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 The following test was performed on build1.5.4.55584: I have been trying to learn the new A2A missile functionality so I set up a small mission where an unarmed aircraft is flying straight ahead and away from me. Everything looks good and I have the aircraft just over 5nm ahead of me. I fire the missile and it appears to be tracking well but then suddenly the missile does a nose dive towards the ground. I have attached a track. I didnt submit this as a bug because I think I might be doing something wrong. If I am please let me know.Mirage strange 530D behavior.trk --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars
TheSnark Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 It's been doing this for quite some time, no idea why actually.
Maulkin Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 Does it happen every time or is here something I am doing that triggers it? Is there a way to make it not do this? --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars

All missiles ranges are severely curtailed when doing stern chases. Maulkin Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 Agreed but it is clear that the missile has plenty of kinetic energy remaining. As soon as the rocket engine on the missile shuts down the missile performs a nose dive into the ground. The mission file is attached.M-2000C A2A missle test.miz --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars
Maulkin Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 I retested this mission but had the target aircraft fly a perpendicular vector and the 530 missile does not do that nose dive manuver when the rocket engine shuts off. Only when I am flying a parallel course directly behind the target as I have in the mission file attached above. I think it is safe to say this is a bug and the thread could be moved into the "Bugs" section. --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars
