OK so not directly related to the Spit but this chap will only be seen in it, the mask shown in the recent pics show the pilot wearing an 'M' type oxygen mask which is a mask from the 1950's and used mostly in Canberras, it should be either 'E' or 'G' Type for the period up to 1944 and an 'H' type post 1944.
