Proper usage of position lights

Does anyone know in what phase of operation you would have the position lights in steady or flash? I can't seem to find an answer in the manual. It would make sense to me to have them in flash on the ground and steady in the air, but this is just a guess.

Just take a look at the FAA regulations (or JAR, they're the same in this regard AFAIK), section 4-3-23. Use of Aircraft Lights

In my case, I turn The pos light ON as soon as I power up the aicraft, and change to strobe once I receive clearance to enter de runway and takeoff.

 

On landing I turn them to Steady once I vacate the runway.
