TACAN working ?

Hi, is it possible for other aircrafts to track my position using TACAN, like they would do for a tanker ? If yes, what do I need to do to be seen by them and what do they need to do to see me ?

Distance, yes. Bearing. No.

 

Just set up a 63 channel difference between you and the 2nd aircraft.

So if you are at A/A mode 71X. The other aircraft should be at 71-63=08X.

If the other aircraft is at 12Y, you should be at 12+63= 75Y,

*you can pick whatever you like, as long a the difference between your and the other aircrafts tacan channel is 63. And both of you are in A/A mode (you select mode at the bottem-right frequency dial for the tacan channel).

 

But, the only thing you will be able to track is the distance between eachother. Not the direction.
