Hi Gentlemen,

First i have to say i made a few posts to express my disapointment about the bad textures and washed out effect i suffered in NTTR and Normandy after the install of Normandy and latest updates that integrated the new lightning / shading system into the DCS install.

This was not fair because i did not try hard enough to find the reason for this problem.

So i apologize ED and now i have to say you did an "amazing" job and dont want it any other way anymore, now i see the almost photo realistic graphical benefits after setting it up the right way for "my system"

I say for "my system" because no system is the same and what works for one does is no guarantee it will work for another but it wil give some maybe a hint in the right direction to fix it for them too.

First let me start with my system specs:

Mainboard: MSI Z170A SLI PLUS

CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4,00 Ghz - 4,20 Ghz Skylake (tray) @4.2 GHz.

Memory: Kingston Fury HyperX DDR4 2400 Mhz 16Gb kit (HX424C15FBK2/16)

Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X - 120mm

SSD Samsung 850 Evo series 250GB

1 TB Hdd 7200RPM

EVGA GTX580 3 GB

Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower Computer Case with High Airflow Design

PSU: CoolerMaster GM Series G750M - 750 Watt

Saitek X52 Flight system ( want rudder pedals in the near future)

Track IR4. ( going to look for a VR set in the near future)

I know the frustration when the colours are not visualized the way they should and everything in the maps is washed out/blurry , water etc looks cartoon-ish and FM has not that shiny look anymore.

As you see i have not the latest high-end Gcard ( graphis would be even better if i had a gtx1080 ) but this gtx580 3gb is still kicking ass in most games.

some in high and some in mid range settings.

So take the folowing options i did only in account as a reference from where to start if you have an better system and experience the same problems.

Regarding my system i have found the best system spec/settings combination to have that almost photo realistic look back again !

(Everything runs smooth and no stuttering anymore)

FPS is like everybody experienced differend at higher altitude compared to lower altitudes where alot of traffic and buildings/objects are placed.

But still smooth for me at high and low altitudes.

Textures:High

Terrain Textures: High

CIV traffic:Medium

Water:Medium

Visib Range: Medium

Heat Blur: High

Shadows: High

Resolution: 1920x1080

Aspect Ratio:1.7777777777778

Monitors:1 screen ( i use my second monitor to display mauals and or flightplans etc.

Res. of cockpit Displays:1024 Every Frame

MSAA : 8x

Depth of Field : off

Lens Effect : Dirt+Flare

HDR : off ( this option is not available with Deferred shading on)

Deferred Shading : On

Clutter/Grass : slider to 500

Trees Visibillity : Slider to 3000

Preload Radius: Slider to 30000

Chimney Smoke Density : slider to 1 ( have to try more what it does when i set it higher but for now it is perfect)

Gamma: Slider to 1.3 ( Setting for gamma to high is the final reason that causes washed out effects and bad colours etc.)

For every system / graphics card it will be differend so start at 0 and gently add a bit more to it every time when it still not fit your needs after you tested it.

You will notice from second 1 that setting up gamma the right way let the wash out effect , bad textures and dull colours disappear.

Colours are way brighter and shiny now.

Anisotropic Filtering : 8x ( 16x brings a bit f stuttering back)

Terrain Object Shadows : Flat

Cockpit Global Illumination : On

Activate Disable Aero Interface

Unmark Vsync

Full Screen activated

Scale Gui Activated.

These are my settings in the DCS options browser.

In the ENVIDEA configuration screen i made also some changes.

Hardware settings are mostlikely give it a big boost with the software settings together.

In the NVIDEA Configuration screen go to manage 3D settings and select the program settings tab.

Select there in the dropdown bar the DCS exe so the settings wil be exclusieve have an direct impact wile playing DCS.

My setting there are as next:

Anisotropic Filtering : Program Controlled

Antialiassing - FXAA : On

Antialiassing - Gammacorrection : On

Antialiassing - Setting : On

Antialiassing - Modus : Program Controlled

Antialliassing - Transparancy : 8x ( Supersample)

CUDA - GPU`s : All

Tripple Buffering : On

Ernergycontrolmodus: optimal power.

Maximum Rendered Frames before: Use the 3D program setting.

Multi-Screen / Mixed GPU axeleration : Multiscreen performance modus

Shader-Cashe : On

Texture Filtering - Anisotropic example optimalisation : On

Texture Filter - Quality : High Quality

Texture Filtering - Triliniair - Optimalisation : On

Thread Optimalisation : Automatic.

Vertical Synchronisation : Use the 3D program setting.

Virtual Reality in advance rendered frames : Use the common setting (1)

In the tap Defauld setting i have:everything the same execept:

DSR Factors : 4.00x ( native resolution)

DSR Smoothness : 100%

Texturefiltering - Negative LOD-bias : Alowed

Like i said before these are settings that work perfect for my system and DCS.

It gave me the awsome graphics and playfun back DCS is famous for.

It showed me that ED has done an amazing JOB and with still some fixed and removing bugs to do they are on the right track to make it the ultimate flightsim experience even more then it is already.

Hope it wil be a solution for some and a pointing in the right direction for

others.

Anny with other solutions or tips for better settings Always welcome and plz post it in this Thread as it wil help manny fixing there problems and enjoy DCs for what it is made for.

Ty Gentlemen.

Good luck!
