How do I clear the 'Guns Empty' notification on the HUD?

In Air-Air mode on the HUD, when the gun is empty or gunpod not fitted, Air-To-Air Weapon Select Switch down brings up ///// in the middle of the HUD and a lot of HUD data (vertical velocity etc.) goes missing.

I can't find a way to clear this and reset the HUD to normal.

Can anyone help please?

the slashes mean that you have no weapons of that type or have run out. try selecting a different weapon, if no more weapons then select NAV or VTOL

 

that will get rid of the bars
