Flashman_H Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Hi everyone, am I the only F-5E flyer who noticed a few issues that have come uo recently? Since the latest patch I can't get my engines to shut down with keyboard commands (r-STRG + End and r-SHIFT + End I believe) - I tried re-mapping these keys, other keys, etc. - doesn't work. I can only use the emergency shutdown switches in the cockpit if I want to shut dowm for refueling/rearming. Radar: Scanning azimuth switch now works only at 10 miles or below - it used to work for all ranges IIRC. Another problem: smokewinders can't be shut down on the ground if switched on during landing - I just recently got into aerobatics, maybe it's always been like this. I am also having new trouble with the Kneeboards across all modules - until ~2-3 weeks ago kneeboards worked fine. :helpsmilie:
Balzarog Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 (edited) Have you tried a cleanup and repair? I have my idle cutoff mapped to my warthog throttles so I can't help with the key commands. All of my knee boards work correctly in the latest update and hot fix to 1.5.8. Have you tried to do a hot refuel and rearm? Open your canopy and give the command to the ground crew. I think I've done that in the past. We used to do hot turnarounds in our F-4Bs in the USMC when I was Fleet Marine Force Western Pacific (FMF WestPac). Edited December 21, 2017 by Balzarog More info. Flashman_H Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 Hi, @bbrz: yes, I meant the guarded fuel cutoff switches :D @Balzarog: please advise on how to do a cleanup without wrecking my DCS ;-)
Nightwolf Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 If you're using the keyboard commands, your throttles need to be at idle before they can be shut off AFAIK. Check to make sure your throttles are properly calibrated, it's possible that the throttles aren't actually going all the way to idle when your controller is. "Fighter pilots have ice in their veins. They don't have emotions. They think, anticipate. They know that fear and other concerns cloud your mind from what's going on and what you should be involved in." -Buzz Aldrin
Flashman_H Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 Thanks Nighwolf, I actually modified my throttle axis recently so that sounds like a possible explanation - I'll look into it tonight!

This procedure is for Windows 7. 1) Copy your DCS saved games directory, and rename it in case something goes wrong. 2) Go to the main game directory for the DCS version you're using; 1.5.8 or 2.2. 3) In that directory, right click on "bin." 4) In the window that appears, select "Open in Command ...." 5) in the command window that opens, type run_DCS.exe cleanup and hit the return 6) After the cleanup finishes, type run_DCS.exe repair and hit the return That should cleanup and repair any corrupted files you might have. Bignewy has the procedures in his signature. Check it out. Edited December 21, 2017 by Balzarog Additional info. Flashman_H Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 @all: Thx for the competent replies! The throttle problem is fixed, it was as Nightwolf said! I also noticed the radar works fine again, somehow my keyboard commands had been re-set to defaults... And thx also for the advice on cleanup. Merry X-mas + safe landings in 2018!
