Horns Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 I've run this mission many, many times and I just don't wind up hitting a target. I don't really know what else to say... I've tried firing in single and group, impulse and series, made sure I'm in range and pointed dead at the target and confirmed that missiles actually fired with both F2 camera and in the debrief, but the debrief still doesn't credit me with any hits. Anyone else having this problem or have any ideas? lemoen Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Did you fire at the correct group, the northern one? The others may shoot the missiles down.
Horns Posted March 23, 2018 Author Posted March 23, 2018 Did you fire at the correct group, the northern one? The others may shoot the missiles down. I'm firing on the most northern group I can see, but I might try looking further north. Thanks, much appreciated :) Modules: [A-10C] [AJS 37] [AV8B N/A] [F-5E] [F-14] [F-15E] [F-16] [F/A-18C] [FC3] [Ka-50] [M-2000C] [Mig-21 bis] [Afghanistan] [Cold War: Germany] [Iraq] [Kola] [NTTR] [PG] [SC] Intel i9-14900KF, Nvidia GTX 4080, Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master X 64GB DDR5 @ 6400 MHz, SteelSeries Apex Pro, Asus ROG Gladius 3, VKB Gunfighter 3 w/ F-14 grip, VKB STECS throttle, Thrustmaster MFD Cougars x2, MFG Crosswind, DSD Flight Series button controller, XK-24, Meta Quest 3
Zabuzard Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 (edited) I did that mission too some days ago. Worked like a charm, this was the result: Maybe this helps you locating them. Note that the 2-ship group north of the convoy shoots at the missiles and you. See the video, they shot two missiles at the AI which was not flying low. The rest of the convoy is unarmed. What you could do is: Save a track. Open the track in the mission editor (it can open tracks too). Go to mission options and check stuff like "External Views", "F10 map all". Save the track. View the track. Now you can go to external view and search the ships. You can also see what happened to your missiles. Edited March 23, 2018 by Zabuza

Thank you both very much, turned out I was mistaken about which group to target. For some reason I presumed waypoint 4 was a target waypoint, despite the briefing and the dialog stressing that the situation was unclear. Further thanks to Zabuza, I'd found early on that Viggen tracks didn't play back correctly, so I hadn't even considered trying to use them as a learning tool. I didn't know that we could change options for the track in the Mission Editor too. Really wish I could +rep you for that valuable information. I do have one more question: did you do anything beyond issuing the order to engage to get the AI Viggens to attack? That still escapes me... Zabuzard Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 (edited) I just commanded the whole flight to "Engage - Ships". Make sure you are on their frequency though :) You can easily test it by telling them to change formations, they should respond. If they don't, you're on the wrong frequency. I told them at about 60km distance so that they have some time to line up etc. In the next mission you will need to tell them "Engage - Mission target and then rejoin", otherwise they won't do a correct bomb run on Sukhumi: The wingmen did attack the tower on the right. Ah, I gave the order too late. Good tip about being on my flight’s frequency, I may not have easy comms checked any more.
