Free camera ctrl-F11 controls don't seem to work

Not sure if it is my setup or it is just broken, but I remember that the free camera could be moved up/down/left/right with rctrl+rshift+numpad arrow keys.

Can't you simply use F11 and then move freely with the mouse? Accelerate/Decelerate with mouse wheel or / and * on the numpad?
