Kaned Dragon Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Hi, basically I'm running out of buttons, is there any way to set up another keyboard and use that for extra keyboard bindings?
Johnny_Rico Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 not really, you can have as many keyboards as you want plugged in but they will have the same keyboard layout (assuming you buy same type) unless you buy one of those fancy programmable ones METAR weather for DCS World missions Guide to help out new DCS MOOSE Users -> HERE Havoc Company Dedicated server info Connect IP: 94.23.215.203 SRS enabled - freqs - Main = 243, A2A = 244, A2G = 245 Please contact me HERE if you have any server feedback or METAR issues/requests
David OC Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 (edited) Hi, basically I'm running out of buttons, is there any way to set up another keyboard and use that for extra keyboard bindings? When I was starting out with the A-10C many moons ago, I used modifiers. I was only using thrustmaster 16000m stick only, then bought track IR, so no need to use the hat for moving the view around. Left hand stayed around the arrow keys + Modifier Arrow up, down, left right (move TGP etc) (Hold right Shift) + Arrow up, down, left right ???? (China Hat, TMS etc) (Hold right Ctrl + Arrow up, down, left right ???? (DMS etc) This works for the Joystick hat = Trim standard (Hold right Shift) + Joystick hat up, down, left, right ???? (TMS etc) (Hold right Ctrl) + Joystick hat up, down, left, right ???? This works for all the Buttons on the thrustmaster 16000m or any joystick. (Hold right Shift) + All Joystick Buttons ??? (Hold right Ctrl) + All Joystick Buttons ??? As you can see there are (a lot of combos) here and I rarely needed to move my hand from the arrow keys, right shift, right Ctrl. I also use the Insert, home, Page up, Page down, delete as these keys are also close to the arrow keys. This can also work for any aircraft in DCS, just set it up to suit your needs. If your are using a HOTAS system? Make one of the throttle keys a modifier for all the keys on your HOTAS, so you end up with 2 x the map-able buttons. . Kaned Dragon Posted April 9, 2018 Author Posted April 9, 2018 Thanks for the suggestions David and Rico. I've tried setting up some of the key buttons on the keyboard, will see if I can find a space on the HOTAS. I haven't thought about trying to create commands with a press and hold option. I'm using a Saitek X52 Pro, and I'm using the software that comes from Saitek, so will need to look into that. Button for activating the laser, or swapping between Narrow and wide view. Those sort of command. The more I fly the AV8B the more I'm thinking of just getting those Thrustmaster Cougar MFD's. There's just so many combinations. 20+ buttons for each monitor, and some do more than one command. Was hoping there was a way of setting up another keyboard just for extra key bindings. Again cheers for the help.
