Is it possible to set NVG gain up/down to an axis?

Using the current keyboard controls I can't fine tune the gain on the NVGs.

 

I can't figure out how to add this as an axis, I've tried modifying the default.lua file located in the current module's input directory, but that didn't seem to work.
