I discovered that while flying a night CV landing that the TACAN pointer was way off where the Stennis actually was. I replicated this in daytime and have attached a screen shot and a trk file.

As you can see from the picture, I'm 1.0 NM to the Stennis which is almost directly infront of me but the TACAN signal is 45 degrees to my right. This also affects the course line as I should be directly over the course line but I'm showing significantly off of it. While this isn't an issue for Case I ops, night or Case II/III ops will be negatively affected by this inaccuracy.

If I've missed something, please accept my apologies :)

Tony

Update....I discovered that I have the Tarawa in the same group as the Stennis and they both had the identical tacan signals. If you delete the tacan from the Tarawa, it also deletes the Stennis tacan. When you add it back to the Stennis, it also adds the identical tacan to the Tarawa.

For the time being I guess you can’t have the Stennis and the Tarawa in a group if you want a tacan on the Stennis for course lines.

If I remove the Tarawa from the group it’s fine.

I still think that’s a ‘bug’, we should be able to have two ships in the same group for navigation and waypoint purposes without them sharing a tacan. My setup was the Tawara 10 NM to the starboard of the Stennis to operate Harriers off.
