Navigation tick mark on compass tape vs CSEL on HSI

Issue

 

If you have TCN boxed on the HSI, normally you will see a thick line on the HUD compass tape showing you where to steer.

If you press the "Course" switch to change the CSEL value in the lower right of the HSI, you get a course line going through the TCN symbol on the HSI (plus a line and arrow in the HUD), but the thick line disappears from the compass tape.

If you unbox TCN and then box it again, the course line disappears from the TCN symbol on the HSI (and the HUD line/arrow disappears), and you get the line back in the compass tape.

 

Question

 

Is it intended we cannot see a course line through a TCN symbol on the HSI simultaneously with the navigation tick mark on the compass tape?

We can only get one or the other?

18. Command heading marker. When waypoint/OAP or TACAN direct great circle steering is selected, the command heading marker is displayed just below the heading scale.

19. Steering arrow and dots. When waypoint/OAP or TACAN course line steering is selected, the steering arrow and dots appear on the HUD.

 

 

It's one or the other.
