Hello,

There is a rather rapid developing fps drop when a RIM-66 SM-2 or an S-300 SAM is fired from their respective cruisers (Moskva or Ticonderoga) towards land.

This track may not show the fps drop, but if it does you will clearly see how the fps drop from 100 to zero in just around 2-3 seconds and only after these missiles reach a certain distance (or after a given amount of time) since being fired. The strange thing is that if your plane (the missile's target) is over water, everything goes flawlessly, therefore the heavy smoke created by these missiles is not the issue, but when these missiles follow a target over land, the huge fps drops get even below 0,2 frames per second. Yes, your screen literally locks up for several seconds, then your fps recover for just a couple of seconds and then the cycle repeats.

Even when the missiles are following you over land, the fps drop doesn't always seem to occur, but only when the missile is within some given range limits from where you are after it's being fired. This said, if you are closer than a given range from the enemy ship that fires either an S-300 missile or an SM-2, you may not experience any fps drops at all. Also if you are above a given distance from the ship, when the missile follows there is no fps drop taking place once again, so only within some range limits (say between 20 to 40km away from the firing ship) and only as long as the missile is physically in the air (with or without smoke) you may experience fps drops to screen locks.

If for some reason during the fps start dropping, these missiles blow up, your fps instantly boosts back to normal. The CPU or GPU loads are low when this occurs. This phenomena is only linked to these missiles so far. Other missiles fired at you by ships, such as TOR or RIM-7 don't produce fps drops.

I have also tested these longest range SA missiles when being fired from land S-300 or Patriot (MIM 104) and never produced low fps, not even the slightest drop.

So the problem is regarding the ships long range SAMs only.
