SonofEil Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Since ED is so insistent that the opaque HUD on the -18 is correct (it's not), can we please have carrier lights turn on, provided proper communication is used of course, when the sky is overcast. It's extremely difficult to see the carrier through the HUD when overcast and the landing area is almost totally invisible up until just before touchdown. A comm menu item requesting lights-on would also be sufficient/useful. i7 7700K @5.0, 1080Ti, 32GB DDR4, HMD Odyssey, TM WH, Crosswind Rudder...
maxTRX Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 A comm menu item requesting lights-on would also be sufficient/useful. Hey, that reminds me of decades ago... when flying little puddle-jumpers around fields with remotely controlled lighting (say when the tower was closed). 5 clicks with with a mike and... voila! That trick won't work with Stannis airboss. Since you mentioned HUD tint. Once you get the boss turn the lights on for you... tint or no tint, make sure you have your HUD on "night" setting or turn down the brightness. That's the only way I can pickup my line up reference in my VR and set up a visual scan of AOA, VVI, line up, ball. The ball is fuzzy as hell but if I see something yellow in the middle of green at the start... I'm in the ballpark.
SonofEil Posted June 26, 2018 Author Posted June 26, 2018 Haha, yeah that pilot controlled lighting could be a pain in the butt sometimes, had to get those clicks juuuuust right. Ah the good old days hoppin around in 152's. Re: HUD, I actually keep the brightness knob at only ~1/4 turn most of the time. If I'm flying at night I'll have it at 1/2 to 3/4 in night mode. i7 7700K @5.0, 1080Ti, 32GB DDR4, HMD Odyssey, TM WH, Crosswind Rudder...
