Are unused AIM-54 rails left on?

When carrying a loadout of AIM-9 x2, AIM-7 x2, and AIM-54 x2, are the empty AIM-54 weapon rails on stations 4,5 left on or are they taken off?

 

On the Hornet for example, I know it was standard to leave unused weapon pylons on the aircraft.

Yes, you are right, but what I want to know is what the official US Navy procedure was in such cases.

 

I can take them off in the mission editor which of course saves on weight but I don't know if it's realistic to do so.
