some1 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 (edited) It seems that when fired at targets that are dropping chaff or jamming the AIM-54 is doing some weird zig-zacs in vertical plane. It may be related to seeker switching to other mode of tracking, but it looks weird from the outside, and the missile pulls 10g manoeuvres killing all its energy in the process. I have a training mission where you can see that the missile firing on Il-76 tracks nicely, while the ones fired at Tu-95 and Tu-22 bleed the energy quickly making sharp turns. Also notice that enemy aircraft starts dropping chaff immediately when fired upon from 55 km in TWS, automagically knowing that he is the target of the missile. Maybe it's time to kick some butts at ED to finally fix the situational awareness of AI units. f14zigzag.trk Edited April 13, 2019 by IronMike Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
