mehksauce Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 does anyone use this? its a qfe conversion tool but its 2 years old so idk if its still usable.... cant test it myself atm cuz im still learning startup on the viggen lol
mehksauce Posted April 26, 2019 Author Posted April 26, 2019 reason im asking is because i heard that u need a precise qfe for weapons? or can i just set a default number
Marsvinet Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I have used that tool since it was first posted. It still works. QFE is important for some weapon deliveries. In many cases radar ranging will be used instead but having the QFE set as a backup is always good practice and is even obligatory for the retarded bombs. SO preferably no default numbers. But if you have a preplanned mission the target QFE is presented in your kneeboard.
Palten Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Nice! I actually checked that page out today but it looked like I had to create the tool myself but the link you gave works right away. Awsome! However, it doesn't take temperature into account but that shouldn't be a problem since the difference is very small anyway  | Strix Z490-H | i5 10600K | MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB Gaming X | 32GB 3000MHz DDR4 | 256 Gb SDD Samsung 840 Pro + 480Gb SDD Kingston + 500 Gb HDD | Acer Predator Z1 2560*1440p | TM Warthog HOTAS | 2x MFD Cougar | Buddyfox A10 UFC | TrackIR 5 | Win10 Pro 64-Bit Swedish | | A-10C Warthog | AJS-37 Viggen | F-86F Sabre | F/A-18 Hornet | KA-50 Blackshark | Spitfire LF Mk. (no waypoint, targetpoint, etc )
Cruiser18 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Some bomb modes allows for radar ranging to determine the impact point and calculating a precise release point. I believe the dive bombing mode is one of those. Other bombing modes requires a QFE to be set for the target point, as the computer will need that to calculate the proper height to release the bombs. I believe the BK 90's need a proper QFE as well to release at the proper height above the targets.
