aaron886 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Not to necro this but, Has anyone learned why the trim gets nose-up after doing an auto flaps takeoff? It's a bug. Obviously, the FCS should be trimming to 1G with flaps AUTO. Unfortunately there's "plausible deniability" because the programmers (or more commonly, other forum members) can simply point out that you're not supposed to take off with flaps AUTO per NATOPS.
sthompson Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 It's a bug. Obviously, the FCS should be trimming to 1G with flaps AUTO. Unfortunately there's "plausible deniability" because the programmers (or more commonly, other forum members) can simply point out that you're not supposed to take off with flaps AUTO per NATOPS. NATOPS warns that an uncommanded pitch up after takeoff can occur if the aircraft senses weight on wheels (WOW) after liftoff due to a failure. The described cause is that the nose-up takeoff trim is not trimmed out by the FCS in this case, causing pitch up as the plane accelerates. It also warns that the pitch up rate increases if flaps are moved to AUTO. I wonder if this is somehow related. I'm Softball on Multiplayer.
