Method for drafting F-14B compatible free-flight missions?

Been having some serious frustration getting the quick mission builder to create missions I can fly the F-14B in. Last night I cooked one at the Tiblisi airfield, and the first time I ran it, things worked fine, until I accidentally hit the "abort start" command, but when I relaunched the mission, the ground crew stopped responding.

Is there a quick tutorial out there I can use for creating simple cold start free flight missions, that are F-14B compatible? All I'm trying to do right now is basic VFR and IFR flight training. Not even carrier ops yet.

Thank you,

Honestly the best thing to do is jump into the mission editor. If you have training objectives you want to achieve and have in your mind then all you need is a cold start aircraft on a runway.

There are alot of tutorials around, but tbh for what you need just fiddling yourself will be fine. Click on the aircraft icon on the left side, select your aircraft type on the right, then click on an airfield you want to start from. Then at the bottom of the right panel, once the aircraft is placed on an airfield, you can set the takeoff "Type", to takeoff from ramp. Job done.

This tutorial is a good start. Placing units is what you want to learn. After that, you can learn changing weather etc. That’s probably what you’ll want to just fly for now. No combat. No carriers.

I’m not sure if Spud covers it, but when creating a new mission, you get the screen about your Friends/Foes/Neutral. That stuff is not important and just accepting as is will be fine. After that gets you to the map where you can place units, etc.

Also, remember to set the airfields you want to operate in as the same side as your side. Otherwise, you can’t refuel there and Ground Crew will not respond for chocks, air, power, etc.
